SayreMedia is proud to announce the launch of SnorkSnork, a new destination site for snorkeling enthusiasts created by snorkeling enthusiasts. As we state on SnorkSnork:

Good snorkeling information can be tough to find because snorkeling is often lumped in with diving. Yet snorkelers have different needs. What makes a great dive site or dive entrance does not necessarily give good access for snorkelers—deep coral formations are no help for snorkelers who can’t see them. Windy, choppy areas are fine for divers who will be below them in a second, but can be challenging to snorkelers. SnorkSnork is designed to address this disconnect.

SnorkSnork will soon have a social network where you can join other snorkeling aficionados to discuss great snorkeling sites, report on recent snorkeling rips, and seek out and share advice on the sport we love.

Saturday, February 10, 2007: Are you a fan of The Adventures of Thomas Brin? After more than 6 months in the making, Episode 3 of Gardens of Tomorrow is finally complete and live! This episode marks a major change in this groundbreaking, independent, Internet-based movie series. The first two episodes were shot as part of a competition–the DV challenge hosted by DVinfo.net.

But Episode 3 and beyond are not being produced for a competition. Instead, we are continuing the story of Thomas Brin since so many people have expressed there appreciation for the first two episodes. Since we are no longer under any competition guidelines, we are free to take our time, learn new techniques, and focus on areas in which we feel we fell woefully short in the first two episodes. For Episodes 3 and 4, we spent more time focusing on lighting, scripting, directing, and compositing. We also upgraded our studio space–somewhat. Finally, our post-production suite of tools greatly expanded. We now have the capabilities of high-end graphics houses–well, we have the tools at least, the capabilities will come with experience.

NOTE: Where’s Episode 4? Well, Episode 4 was shot the same weekend as Episode 3. We had hoped to begin post production sometime in late summer of 2007. But, since this is a zero-revenue project, other priorities had to come first. We now hope to be able to release Episode 4 by the fall or winter of 2009.

You can view Episode 3 in two ways:

Watch Episode 3 on the official Thomas Brin website

Or via the iTunes Store

It is almost 9 minutes long (with credits), so it takes a while before it begins playing. The website version is a larger encode (640 x 360) than the video iPod version (320 x 192).

If you are wondering what Thomas Brin is all about, then please visit this page and watch the first two episodes.

Saturday, February 11, 2006: SayreMedia launches its new corporate website designed to showcase our innovative, Internet-based media properties and provide more detail about our new media vision. As traditional media companies face shrinking viewership and declining advertising revenue, we are ramping up our production efforts to take advantage of the new media market opportunities created by the advent of audio and video podcasting. SayreMedia is a legally chartered corporation (Sayre Nature Adventures, LLC) whose mission is to continually develop and launch new, innovative Internet-based media properties that chip away at the market share of traditional media players and position the SayreMedia brand as one of the major players in the new media market. We not only recognize the significance of the new media paradigm, but also fully embrace the commercial potential of this exciting, nascent market.

New Internet-based media companies are successfully leveraging innovative content creation and delivery tools to challenge traditional media outlets for viewership and advertising revenue.

The tight control that traditional media used to have over what got produced and what got viewed is unravelling. The gate is unlocked and now anyone with access to a computer and the Internet can create and deliver decent-quality content. The result: traditional media companies are losing market share and advertising revenue to non-traditional media players. Media is becoming unbundled from the closely-packaged offerings of the past, allowing users to take their media with them and watch what they want when they want.

Considering that podcasting has been around for less than 3 years, the rate of change is astonishing. Big media companies are stumbling, trying to figure out if the new media models are simply a passing fad or a serious competitive threat.

The majority of these companies are not operationally nimble. With bloated overheads and competing internal interests, many will fail to react in a timely manner. The few that have visionary leaders will view the changing landscape as offering new opportunities and will proactively reshape their companies.

Fortunes are at stake. Some traditional media outlets will falter; some Internet-based new media companies will prosper. The companies that succeed will have the bold vision, innovative prowess, marketing savvy, and proactive leadership to guide them through the uncertainty.

But key questions remain. What is the new media business model? How will revenue be generated? Whereas the new media paradigm is powerful, there is a lack of clear vision on how this burgeoning opportunity can best be monetized.

SayreMedia sees the path clearly and has created a report detailing the challenges, opportunities, and timelines in monetizing the new media economy. This confidential report is available to our new-media friends who are seriously interested in working with SayreMedia in forging the new media economy.

Media attention can help a podcast quickly grow in popularity and reach. We ask that you help us attract high-quality media attention so that SayreMedia can continue to grow. If you are a member of the media, or know someone who is, then please help support our efforts by arranging an interview with us about SayreMedia’s pioneering efforts and the future of Internet-based video broadcasting. We are happy to talk with radio, television, Internet-based, and print journalists! If you are a public relations, advertising, or marketing professional, please donate some of your time to spread the word about Thomas Brin. All that we ask is that you email us when you’ve made contact with the media so that we can anticipate their requests and take it from there.

Please do not contact the media on our behalf if you do not have serious media contacts. We spend many hours a month contacting the media ourselves and can speak professionally about our efforts. Cold calling media outlets on our behalf can actually hurt our cause. We ask for your help only if you can bring additional success to our efforts through bona fide media contacts.
